Ilabelle Sarver

77 year old, Ilabelle Sarver of Herrick IL died Sunday, January 13, at 10:30 AM at her residence, Herrick, IL. Ilabelle Sarver was born Monday, September 23 1935, in Shelby County Illinois , near Herrick. The daughter of Raymond and Ethel Shippy. She graduated from Herrick High School. Married August 14, 1955 in Pana, IL to Lowell Wayne Sarver. Ilabelle was a member of the First Christian Church in Herrick, Illinois. Ilabelle worked at Mallory Timers Company in Pana, and in later years was so-owner of Country Crafts in Herrick. She served as a member of the Herrick Community Council and promoted community activities for 4th of July and Holiday in Herrick. She was an avid line dancer, sharing this love with others by teaching classes and joining in demonstrations around the area with her Effingham group. Ilabelle helped bring monthly music and dancing to Herrick for youth and adults alike. Ilabelle was a self-taught artist. She was an active member of the Community Council for the Arts (Pana), Sullivan Art Guild, and Effingham Art Group. She gave art lessons in her home, held workshops and art demonstrations around the area. Many of Ilabelle’s paintings, drawings, saws, blades and wood items decorate homes within our area and many other states. Ilabelle helped with murals in Pana. She created and painted the murals at Carroll Park in Herrick, the Cowden Medical Clinic, jenny’s Café in Cowden, Eagle’s Club of Pana, as well as walls for several family members and some commissioned projects. Her latest mural was a patriotic mural for the Guthrie-Sarver American Legion Memorial in Herrick.
