Randall Henderson

Ethan “Randall” Henderson, 86, of Herrick, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026, at 4:40 PM at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Effingham, Illinois. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Herrick Baptist Church in Herrick, Illinois, with Rev. Jay Huddleston officiating. Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM on Friday, September 18, at Herrick Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Myers Cemetery, Herrick.. Randall was born Sunday, March 3, 1940, in Herrick, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Lovane (Smart) Henderson of Herrick. He attended Herrick Elementary School and graduated with the Herrick High School Class of 1957. Randall served in the United States Army, and upon returning to Herrick, he joined his father at the Henderson Marathon Station. The Marathon Station closed in the late 1960s, and Randall began a new career farming and raising cattle. He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed his retirement years watching their games on TV and attending live games whenever possible. He also enjoyed watching the National Finals Rodeo and discussing it with fellow enthusiasts. Randall was a member of Herrick Baptist Church. Randall is survived by his brother, Eldred (Darlene) Henderson of Washington, IL; his sister, Nancy Henderson of Herrick; nephews Kent Henderson and Jeff Henderson (Connie) of Washington, IL; nieces Amy (Barry) Black of Herrick and Julie (Dale) Bushue of Mason, IL; great‑nephew AJ (Jackie) Henderson of Washington, IL; great‑nephew Brady (Kelli) Black of Herrick; great‑nephew Austin Henderson of Metamora, IL; great‑nephew Bret (Katie) Henderson of Metamora, IL; great‑niece Amanda (Jake) Crabtree of St. Louis, MO; great‑nephew Aaron (Chelsea) Henderson of Peoria, IL; great‑niece Harley Black of Herrick; great‑niece Mikala (Nick) Lindsay of Dieterich, IL; and great‑niece Mikenzi Bushue of Louisville, KY. Randall was blessed with many great‑great‑nephews and nieces and loved keeping track of them all: Akira, Harper, Amelia, Henry, Elliott, Hudson, and Haiden Henderson; Ada, Everett, and Gwendolyn Black; and Blake and John Lindsay. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister‑in‑law, Norma Henderson; and his brother‑in‑law, Wesley “Butch” Miller.
